Machined to exacting precision here in the US, this new model uses three interchangeable caps to offer three blade offsets. Securely held with two bolts while being easy to change over.
Unique mechanical parts are Made in the USA. Exceptions are fasteners (various) and bearings (Japan). Our tools feature extreme strength hardened 17-4 Stainless steel shank! By our estimates, we spend more on our bearing/shank subassembly than our competitors do on their entire tool.
Offset Information: The tool's offset generally (not using advanced programming techniques) sets the limit for material thickness as well as corner radius (without programed arcs). For example, with a 1/8" offset tool, the maximum material thickness it will cut is 1/8". This is due to how the tool moves around corners. Also, if the machine is programed to cut a square, the tool with approximately radius the corners with the radius measuring the tools offset value.
Tool Length: From the collet to the blade tip (not including the shank length), the length of the tool is: 75mm (1/16" offset), 76.5mm (1/8" offset), 80mm (1/4" offset).
Shank: 17-4 Stainless (fully hardened). 3/8”, 5/16"(8mm) or 1/4" diameter options. 1/4" shank is for light duty use. Select the largest diameter when possible. 36mm exposed for collet gripping. 17-4 offers extreme strength and corrosion resistance. These are turned in the hardened state (here in TX) to give the most precision in the end product. Unlike commonly used dowel pins, our shanks do not preload the bearings excessively and thereby offering the best spinning performance and lifetime. Our bearing are also supported in the Z direction and do not rely on friction alone to maintain the tool's structure.
Blade is Excel #19 and is easily found worldwide. A 5-pack of blades is included with each tool. Excel blade #24 can also be used and offers a steeper blade angle.
The cylindrical bodied tool can be used in machines with a nosepiece/pressure foot. Minimun nosepiece diameter for clearance with this tool is 35mm
